Australia Flags Off Scholarships for International Students to study in Australia

Australian Government is accepting applications for international students who want to obtain a Bachelors/Masters/Ph.D. Degrees.


This scholarship program is aimed at providing opportunities for interested candidates from developing countries, particularly those countries located in the security challenging regions, to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

Host Institution(s): Any of the institutions participating in the scheme in Australia.
Level of study: Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D. Degrees that are your country’s main areas of development which are listed on the participating Institutions profiles, or areas that your countries need mostly to boost their economy.

Scholarship values, inclusions, and duration:

The scholarship comes with a lot of benefits which generally includes: full tuition, return air ticket, living expenses contribution (LEC), Overseas Student Health (OSH), Pre-course English (PCE) fees, etc.

Eligibility:

Applicants must have these criteria to be selected:

1. He/she must be 18 years and above on May 1st of 2019;

2. the person must be a citizen of any of the participating countries (as listed below) and be residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship;

3. the candidate must not be a citizen of Australia or hold permanent residency in Australia or be applying;

4. the Candidate must not be married to, engaged to, or is eligible to hold, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency, at any time during the application, selection or mobilization phases (Note: residents of Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship are eligible for this application but must apply for a Student visa [subclass 500]);

5. He/she must not be current serving military personnel;

6. The person must not have previously gotten a long-term Australia scholarship unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time that they stayed in Australia (for instance, a previously awardee who has been on an Australia Scholarship for four years will not be eligible to apply for another Australia Awards Scholarship until they have resided outside Australia for a period of eight years and above);

7. He/she must have satisfied any specific criteria established by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship (e.g. having worked for a certain number of years in an appropriate sector.);

8. He/ she must be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the institution at which the scholarship is to be undertaken (this may implement that Program Areas will need to withdraw an award offer if the recipient can't satisfy with the institution’s admission requirements. This may not be known until Program Areas request for placement at selected institutions);

9. The candidate must be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs to hold a Student Visa. This may mean that the Program Area will need to withdraw an award offer if the recipient of the person cannot satisfy the visa requirements;

10. The Applicant must not be applying for a scholarship for a course of study at an academic level lesser than they have already achieved (e.g. be applying for a Master’s scholarship when they already hold a Ph.D.);

11. The Applicants must duly inform the Program Area of any connection or relationship to staff employed at Program Areas (including the locally engaged staff at the post) or with the managing contractors so that the application may be properly and transparently managed.

Application instructions:

Check when your country’s open and close dates are and select your country’s residency from the list of participating countries for specific information on the eligibility, priority areas and how to apply for it.

The deadline varies from country. The deadline for most countries is 30 June 2019 except for Cambodia (May 31) and

Vanuatu (March 31).
